A Bounty of Lilacs in Montreal's Botanical Garden

I visited the Montreal Botanical Garden on a beautiful May day. I brought my camera with the intention of going on a photo safari: an activity where I pick a theme and focus on artworks (or in this case, plants) around that theme, with the aim of looking at everything differently.

At first, I thought I would search out the most jubilant flowers in the gardens.

But I immediately forgot that mission when I arrived at the lilac gardens.

I was overwhelmed by a field of lilac shrubs that seemed to go on forever. On that sunny day, I went from shrub to shrub, sticking my nose in the low-hanging bouquets. I was in heaven. Each plant had a perfume that differed in floral notes and intensity. I could have stayed the whole day in that marvelous garden.

And so I present, lilacs as found in the Montreal Botanical Garden.
